Hello, I am DustyCorner. I need a little help with battle roleplaying...
Whenever I defend myself in battle, people tell me to not GodMod. I stop, but then, because I can't defend myself, always die. Any suggestions? Example (This didn't really happen): Me: She snarled and bit the wolf's back, dodging his claws. OtherRper: He snarled back and knocked her off by ramming into a tree. Me: She got up quickly and ran up the tree, limping a tad from the ramming. OtherRper: (Dude, don't GodMod) He quickly clawed his way up into the tree, slashing at the she-wolf. Me: (Oh, sorry, I'll stop) She grabbed a branch and, just as she was about to swing it, gasped as two claws slashed at her face. She fell out of the tree in a daze. She couldn't move, as she was in shock. OtherRper: "Ha, ha!" the male wolf cried triumphantly, "Gotcha!" Me: She stood up, growling, "You little-" she began, then stopped herself, "Good match." Any help?

Hmm, it doesn't really seem like you are god-modding at all. Perhaps the other person was getting aggrivated because you kept fighting back. Don't let people kill you in Rp, unless you give them permission. If they say they killed you just say You didn't give them permission to, it is your character. Yet, there are ways to avoid this. God-modding is when you are controlling another person's character or when you give your character abilities that is didn't previously that are kinda like super hero powers and not related to the scenario just to win. Here is a definition some one put online "I would usually associate god modding with a character who is capable of getting out of any situation, with as little effort as possible, or a character who is too powerful for the rules of the game. For example, they might be faced with a situation that requires a little thought to get out of, but the character will suddenly display an ability – often from out of their ass – that they’ve never been observed to be capable of previously in order to win the scenario, even if that ability is completely out-of-hand with the game universe. On the other hand, they might have a character with no perceived weaknesses, they’re always the best at what they do even if they’ve never done it before. “Jimbo piloted the craft expertly, then jumped out, did a quadruple backflip and firing his guns simultaneously killed all the enemies with a single shot to the head each with perfect aim, then scored the winning goal in a football match before pulling all the ladies because he’s so AWEZOOME!” See, so it doesn't seem like you did that at all. But here are a few ways to avoid it, 1.Make sure your post only makes your character do things 2.Make sure you give the other Rper time to react to your attack before just killing them 3.Make it realistic if it is a realistic Rp 4. If you say for instance Me: The she-wolf, Lica leaped the log and tackled the male. Lica bit down into the male's shoulder. Him: The male, Kiren, Fell to the ground and watched as Lica bit him. She tore his shoulder open and then began to scratch his stomach. See? That is taking control when "Him" Started making stuff up about Lica. I hope this helps!

Of course, and welcome to Roleplay Land. First off, I noticed that the other player is powerplaying. You see, powerplaying is when you don't give the other character time to react. And Godmod is just what it is. A Godmodder is a character that never gets hurt and can dodge any blow.
But see, in your example, 'OtherRper' said 'He snarled back and knocked her off by ramming into a tree.' First off, if this was a realistic rp, wolves can't climb trees and if a wolf rammed into a tree, it depends on how big the tree was, but they would be hurt badly. What you want to do is try to let other characters react to your attacks/defense before you say that the hit/dodge was successful.
Here's some examples of defense. I'll be the defensive character will be Blizzard, which will be the white text and 'Somebody' will be the attacker will be Neshoba, which will be the red text.
Somebody: A large silver male stalked behind the white she-wolf silently. When he had lessened the distance, the male pounced from the cover and charged the she-wolf. Neshoba growled and leaped at the she-wolf.
Me: The sound of leaves rustling and the sudden reek of a male ordered the she-wolf to whip around just in time to see a large male leaping straight at her. Blizzard dropped in a crouch, but that didn't help. She was tackled, but as she rolled with the male, she attempted to nip at his neck.
Somebody: Neshoba's growl grew fierce as the sharp, stinging pains shot up his neck. The male managed to grip the Earth with his hind paws and pull back. He snapped around, attempting to catch the she-wolf between his jaws.
Me: Blizzard crouched once more and darted around the male, avoiding his jaws. She pushed herself at the male with wide open jaws.
Somebody: Neshoba pulled back on his hind legs, and pushed himself forward, colliding with the she-wolf. As they fell to the ground, he tried to get his jaws around the female's neck.
Me: Blizzard hit the ground with a thud, and after a few seconds of trying to catch her breath, the she-wolf stood up and backed away. "Good, Neshoba. You've learned well, son."
See. Notice how I say 'attempted' and 'tried' alot. Also, struggled could be used. Do you understand? If you see someone powerplaying or godmodding, explain what they are doing wrong. Would you like to rp out a fight and let me see if you understand?
((Sorry Abby. I had typed it all up and didn't notice you had posted.))

You all made some very good posts (and an rp used solely for fighting sounds VERY yummy to me :3)) But I couldn't help but mention something. It was that both of the characters were god-modding in this situation, even if this person was just an example.
'OtherRper: He snarled back and knocked her off by ramming into a tree.'
If he/she had simply said 'charged toward a tree to knock her off by ramming into it' or something, then that would give you enough time to react, but in this case he godmodded, saying that he/she already knocked you off.
'Me: She snarled and bit the wolf's back, dodging his claws.'
You can't attack and dodge at the same time. Multi-tasking is toxic to the brain!!! (jk jk) The bold part was the god-modding that 'OtherRper' was reffering to, along with
'Me: She got up quickly and ran up the tree, limping a tad from the ramming.'
Realistically, a wolf wouldn't be able to climb a tree if she was limping, right? And as Brittany mentioned, wolves shouldn't be able to climb trees in the first pace unless it was a low branch or something. No offense, just tryin' to halp ^_^
Anyway, I'd go with what Brittany suggested and use 'attempts' so that the other rper can react.
