Hi. Do you have a tendency to powerplay? Do you want to help others to not powerplay? Well read on.
Powerplaying is an aggravating concept of roleplay. Though everyone hates it and wants it gone, it still exists. Some may not know when they are powerplaying, others do it just to troll.
Powerplaying- 1. is when someone begins roleplaying a character with abilities, capabilities, power, etc. that was not mentioned before. 2. is when someone takes control of someone else's character. 3. is when someone killed your character without permission. 4. is when the powerplayer doesn't give the other the time to react to an attack/dodge.
I've noticed that a lot of the times it's numbers 2 & 4. An example for each is found below:
Powerplay Def. #2 Example
She sneaks up behind the male silently. She lets out a loud denomic bark and falls to the ground laughing as the male jumped and yelped.
Powerplay Def. #4 Example
He tackles the she-wolf and pinned her to the ground. He pushes his paw on her shoulder. A loud snap echoes and he smirks, seeing that her shoulder was broken.
See? Roleplay would get annoying if that happened all the time. So I'll tell you a few ways to prevent doing this.
-Never control another person's character. -Give others a chance to react to an attack/defense before stating that the attack/dodge was successful. Use 'attempt, try, struggle, etc.' a lot to prevent powerplaying. -Never kill another's character without permission.

I remember on Feral Heart one time someone did this to my character.
Me- Lilly Them- Gracer
He watched as the female sat in front of the pond, and without hesitation he leaped taking her down into the water. As he latched onto her front leg, blood trickled out and it drove his hunger for blood further.
And they made a long post of attacks...would that be powerplaying? Because by the time I finished reading the post, I am sure my character would be dead in real life...-.-

Absolutely. They didn't give you time to react to the first what should have been 'attempt' to attack.

What they should have said was this. He watched as the female sat in front of the pond, and without hesitation, he leaped attempting to take her down into the water. Honestly, you're not supposed to have more than one attack in one post. The same goes with an attack and a defense. They can't be in the same post. I usually let it slide, though I like it much better with only one attack/defense in one post. When I was first introduced to roleplay, I played WolfQuest. Then I found someone that would help me understand the basics and help me improve my rp. Here are the basic battling rules: - It takes 6 posts to reveal the windpipe - 3 posts to break a single paw - 8 posts to paralyze with constant pounding towards the shoulder region - 1 post to break the distance towards you and your opponent Credit goes to The Silentum Project
