Soldado stared at the ground as Akila walked past him, but his head turned as his gaze followed her up the rocky incline. "Ready?" Amelia's soft voice caught his attention as he turned his gaze to the small fae that sat a few feet from him.
"Ugh-Yeah, go on ahead. I'll catch up," He said reassuringly. She furrowed her brow, but nodded before standing and jogging towards Destin's den.
Soldado watched until the fae was out of sight before turning to make his way up the rocky incline, "Akila, I forgot something,"He was about to say just that, He was ready to walk into the den, and nuzzle his mate, when something caught his attention. A scent on the wind, a familiar one.
He froze just around the corner of the den entrance, looked up, and sniffed the air slowly, "Nitro.." He whispered to himself. His ears perked as his eyes caught the tip of what seemed like a starry tail flicker into the den and disappear around the corner.
"I miss you so much, Nitro." "I'm always with you, Akila."
Soldado's ears flew back and hugged his skull, but his expression remained the same, neutral mostly, with a hint of sadness. His eyes were glued to the ground as he turned around silently, and walked down the incline without a word before making his way towards Destin's den.
----------
Amelia sat quietly, waiting outside the den. The quiet talking coming from inside the den quickly escalated to barking and snarling, which in turn, changed to growling whimpering.
Amelia laid her head on her paws and stared at the stream, glad that the den was so far from the others, or they would be heard. When Soldado finally emerged from the den, her head shot up and instantly stared at the tear in his right ear. "Please tell me the other guy looks worse...Good job genius, now she's going to wonder what happened." She said with a disappointed look.
Soldado's golden eyes flickered up towards his ear. "I'll say I went hunting, and he can't get much worse" He replied before turning his gaze to her. "What happened?" She asked.
"He'll be staying for a few more days,.." Soldado replied in an annoyed way, "But, he's to keep his distance from my mate, and my pack."
Amelia narrowed her eyes, "You were silently included." He added and she rolled her eyes. "Let's just get back, I'm tired." She stood and began jogging back towards the dens with Soldado following behind.
When Soldado got back to the den, the scent was gone, but the thought of it wasn't. He laid at the cave entrance, his black fur barely visible in the darkness, but his golden eyes shining through as he stared at his sleeping Akila. She looked peaceful, but he wasn't. He sat up the whole night, not sleeping. Just staring over the pack, and thinking.

Akila's eyes shot open and her fur bristled in fear. A familiar face slowly shaped around the golden eyes that were staring at her. She let her fur lie flat and smiled warmly, "You're back." The white she-wolf stood and made her way over to him, "Why are you way over here?" The moonlight that filtered in aided her vision to see a tear in Soldado's ear. "What happened?" she rasped her tongue over his ear and laid down beside him, pressing her body close to his, "Are you okay?"

Soldado watched Akila as she approached him, "Late night hunting gone wrong," He answered quietly, watching her as she laid beside him. His ears pinned back, and he looked away. But slowly, he lowered himself to the ground, laying his head on her back and wrapping his tail around her body. "Goodnight, Love." He said softly.

Akila took a deep breath and sighed, "Goodnight, Soldado." She sensed a bit of hesitation for a moment, but as he laid his head down on her, she thought nothing of it.
She was awake just as the rays of sunlight filtered through the den. Akila stood slowly, nudging Soldado, "Wake up sleepyhead."

Soldado's golden eyes flickered open as he lifted his head off of his paws. His gaze turned to the outside of the den, as he looked out over the den site. "I'm up," He said softly before pushing himself to his feet. He gazed over at her, the normal urge to nuzzle her when he woke up, wasn't there. Instead, he felt odd. His ears perked as he gazed over at Destin, as he jogged across the open den site.
"Let's get an early start," He said, hoping she wouldn't expect a nuzzle, before turning and walking out of the den. Amelia sat outside of her den, and eyed him. "How'd it go?" She asked, jogging up next to him. Soldado didn't seem interested to speak, or walk with anyone, but he hesitantly answered. "Fine,"

Akila's smile slowly faded and her ears pinned back. Soldado was acting as the friend, not the new mate. Sighing, she decided to give him time to get adjusted to Alpha life. Faking a smile, she said, "All right. I'll take a hunting patrol." Her gaze followed him as he joined up with Amelia. Looking away, she saw Destin walking across the den site. After gathering a few wolves, she walked up to Destin, "You up for a hunting patrol?" She noticed scratches on him, "What happened?" (Destin did have scratches and stuff didn't he?)

Destin's head laid low as he walked with a pissed expression. Akila's voice caught his attention and he paused, raising his head and scowling. "Love to, Sadly I-" Destin's eyes locked onto Soldado as he walked along side Amelia. Destin furrowed his brow, before glancing back up at Amelia.
"Don't worry about it," He replied. "And I'd love to come." He smiled before turning to face her, "But I must warn you," He said, his lips curling up on the right side of his mouth in a half-smile. "I'm a darn good hunter."
Amelia's ears pinned back, and her brown eyes trailed off to the side in thought. Her eyes landed on Destin and Amelia speaking, and her ears perked as she froze. Soldado walked ahead, but paused and glanced back, following her gaze to see the two wolves.
His ears pinned back, as his golden eyes watched silently. Amelia's big brown eyes flickered over to Soldado, fear rising in her of his anger. "Come on," She said pushing against him and turning him towards the forest. Soldado's large stature would never let any wolf push him, but he gave in, letting the fae lead him away from the scene.
"What are you doing?" Amelia asked as the two walked through the forest. "Nothing," He said bending down and scooping up a small squirrel he chased down. The dead squirrel laid still as Amelia watched. "What is that?" She asked. "The pups back at the den site love playing with these." He said. His head was high, but his ears were pinned back as Amelia led him to a small trail in the forest. "Ready?" She asked with a smile, glancing back at him. Soldado's brow furrowed, "For?" He mumbled through the squirrel.
"This!" She barked, lunging back and snatching the squirrel away before taking off down the trail. Soldado barked in surprise before launching after her. "Get back here!" He barked, pushing the ground behind him as Amelia's thin body sprinted her forward.

Akila smiled, "Not as good as me." The worry from her face disappeared entirely. "Okay, you're the guest. Visiting team. You choose the hunting grounds," she challenged, lightly shifting on her paws in excitement.

"Okay.." He mumbled glancing up in thought. "The trial," He looked back down at her. "Perfect game this year round'." He smiled. "Now, I'm sure you're aware of-" He turned sharply, taking off towards the forest before letting a series of loud barks into the air alerting his team as the small group of wolves gathered behind him.
"Would,..You...Slow..Down!" Soldado's loud voice erupted into the air as he lunged forward, but missed the fae as she sped up with a laugh. "Oh come on! You can't tell me you aren't having fun!"
"I'm not!" He growled.

Akila barked and kicked the ground, shooting forward. "Hey not fair wait up!" she howled after them. A rabbit darted the other way and she smirked, then dashed after it. ((sorry gotta go. Will reply to others later)) She padded to Destin and the others, rabbit dangling from her mouth. "Where's yours?"

Destin's eyes narrowed as he eyed the rabbit. His ears flickered to the side as the sound of rustling caught his attention. "This way." He smirked, before turning and darting off.
Soldado sped up, his legs moving like a machine as he crouched, before leaping forward through the air, tackling the fae to the ground. As they rolled to a stop, Amelia laid on her back with the squirrel in mouth, and Soldado laid beside her, one of his front legs laying across her chest as he shook the dizziness from his head before snatching the squirrel back and sliding his leg away, allowing the fae to roll over onto her belly.
Soldado dropped the squirrel softly onto his paws as Amelia burst out into a laughing fit. "What's wrong with you?" He growled, "You..I.." She struggled to speak as her laughing slowed down. "You're afraid to have fun!" She said quickly with a smile. "You don't even know how to." She perked her ears.
"Yes I do, It's just been awhile, being alpha leaves little time for fun." He growled defensively. Amelia laughed quickly, "You are so anti-fun, you haven't even noticed the whole time you were chasing me, you were smiling and I bet that whole mess back at the den site wasn't on your mind." She said quickly, and when Soldado gazed at her in shock and stayed silent, she raised an eyebrow.
"Told ya'." She smiled.
Destin launched himself over the brush and onto the trail he heard the noise from, only to skid to a stop at the sight before him. "Soldado..Amelia..." He said in shock before slowly smirking. "How wonderful," He laughed, "Akila, look at your man so hard at work." He smiled.
Soldado was still in awe when Destin showed up, his ears perked and his head snapped around. "I got food when she took it, I got it back, that's all." Soldado said in a confused tone.

Akila leaped over the bush, a smile on her face even through the rabbit. When she saw Soldado and Amelia, her face fell, the rabbit dropping from her jaws. Her gaze shifted away from Soldado's gaze, "Yeah, okay." She picked up the rabbit and turned away, "Come on, Destin. Let's just finish the hunt."

Destin's green eyes flickered back to Akila before flickering back to Soldado, a smirk on his face. "Amelia! How dare you ruin a mate-ship!" He snarled taking a step forward, Amelia's ears pinned back as she quickly cowered. "Hey!" Soldado growled, standing and taking a step to stand between Destin and Amelia. "It's not her fault, she was trying to help me." He growled.
"With what, hurting Akila?" Destin snapped. "No! Helping me stop thinking about all the problems I have back at the den site," He snapped. "Everyone's saying they're hungry, they're afraid of a rival pack attack, and I do everything in my power to please everyone! I never am able to,"
"Problems?" Destin growled, "That's it? You have one problem? You're pathetic."
Soldado snapped the air with his jaws, "I've got two strangers in my pack, one who is violent, Not to mention I had to kick your ass just so you would stop flirting with Akila. Oh and the fact that my wife is spending her nights talking to her ex-mate, who she's still in love with even though she will deny it." Soldado's golden eyes flickered over to Akila, "And what?" Destin said, his voice softer with a smirk, "You jealous?"
"No," He said genuinely, "It's the fact that as long as she's in love with him, she'll never truly be in love with me." Soldado said his ears pinned back. After a moment of silence, Soldado gazed down at Amelia, who wasn't cowering anymore. "You two enjoy your hunt," He said turning and walking away from the group.

Akila growled and pinned her ears back, her eyes following him as he left, "I can't show my love if you're hardly around. Around her," she spat as she looked at Amelia, "when you should be with me." Tears clouded her vision as she turned and ran, leaving everything behind. She ran back to the river where she and Destin had been the day before.

Amelia's ears pinned back as her eyes widened in fear at Akila's words. She stayed laying on the ground, Destin's green eyes burrowing into her as the two wolves left. "Look what you did." He growled. "I..I didn't mean to..I just.." She mumbled, Destin's eyes grew cold as she turned and followed after Akila.
"Akila," Destin's voice called out as he caught up with her at the river. "Why do you stay with him, when he hurts you?"
Amelia watched as Destin left before slowly laying her head down on her paws and remaining still, and slowly drifting into a sleep. "Come on kid," The voice startled Amelia as she lifted her head quickly, she must have been asleep for a bit as the sun was almost gone. The familiar black male stood infront of her, his golden eyes narrowed. "Soldado..Where's Akila?" She asked softly.
"With Destin, Let's get you back to the den site." He said motioning for her to get up. She eyed the scar over his eye as she moved. "how'd you get that scar?" She asked softly.
"Long story," "I've got time." She replied.

"He's right, though. My former mate visited me last night. I can't help that I still love him. I'll always love him. Soldado knows that when he and my pups died, they took a piece of my heart with them. My Beta wanted me as his mate, Soldado challenged. It's as simple as that. The pack cannot risk wolves' lives only to be declined by the female. Wolves should mate only once, twice if they have to, but only if their first dies." Akila sighed and laid her head down on her paws, a tear leaking from her right eye, rolling down to the ground.

Destin lowered himself to the ground beside Akila. "You do not love him.."He said softly. "You only took him for the pack?" He asked. "Akila.." He said quickly. "You never truly mated with Soldado, am I correct? No pups were planned..so..technically you still have one more chance to find a mate.." He said, his green eyes locking with her own.
"I tried to save them..I couldn't. This scar is a reminder of that." Soldado said as he eyed the waving leaves that stuck to the bush beside them. Amelia and him stood in the middle of the trail they had been walking, speaking of his scar. "That wasn't your fault, you did what you could. There was absolutely nothing you could have done."
"Akila doesn't love me." He said quickly. "And..I don't know if I loved her really..I think I just..she was always the only thing I ever had..and the thought of losing her to that beta..I think I might have made a mistake by starting all of this mess." He said quickly. "I'm a warrior, that's what I was born to be, not an alpha, my blood craves fight, my soul was formed around protecting and fighting, not making decisions and watching a pack. I.."
"Deserve to be happy?" Amelia said, interrupting and catching him by surprise. "Soldado, you're strong. You'll find someone." She nodded, "Who knows, it might be Akila." She shrugged.

"I do love him. Just not love, love. I love him as a friend," Akila sighed and looked at Destin. She listened intently and nodded, "You are correct. He and I have been as distant as ever since he won the fight. Hardly ever around each other." Her ears pinned back, "What if he doesn't truly love me? What do I do if he doesn't?"

"You find someone who does" Destin said, his green eyes searching hers. "you deserve it,"
Soldado eyed Amelia, awe in his eyes. "I for one think you're a good man." Shw smiled up at him.

Akila stared in Destin's eyes. She blinked away the tears and nodded, a faint smile taking over her frown. "I wonder who's next? Lupus bless the wolf that has to deal with me. I'm nothing but a walking bad luck charm."

Destin's smile broke through the darkness as he stared at Akila. The crickets were the only thing breaking the silence.
"don't be stupid, Dude. Let's go ask her now. I'm telling you, she loves.." Amelia's words faded off as the two approached the river the other two wolves sat at. Soldado's golden eyes flickered forward, following Amelia's gaze.
In one swift motion, Destin leaned forward, shoving his head against her neck before nuzzling her and pulling away slowly.
Amelia's ears pinned back instantly, but the two stayed silent. Amelia kept her eyes forward, only in fear of what soldado might look like.

Akila raised her head and sighed, looking over at Destin. "Destin, I can't. I'm Soldado's mate. We have to show unbound loyalty to our mates." Her muscles tensed as the golden glow of Soldado's eyes gave them away. She stood up and walked forward, only stopping when she saw Amelia. "What are you doing?"

soldado stared quietly, looking his mate over. "Making a mistake." He replied, "You don't love me." He said, "Soldado," Amelia scolded harshly, "what? The only reason she can't be with Destin is because she has* to show unbound loyalty to me." He said shaking his head at her.
"Well, now you don't." He said before walking past her, "i'm leaving the pack." He said as he leaped over the creek, landing heavily on the other side.

"Soldado wait. Please," Akila flicked her tail, ordering the other two away. She leaped over the creek and ran in front of Soldado. "Stop." Her ears pinned back, "Yes, I still love Nitro. He will always have part of my heart, I thought you understood that? And how am I supposed to show you how much I love you when you're never around? We haven't spent any time together ever since you won against Jarrah."

"Show me how much you love me?" Soldado asked, his voice swirling with anger. He shook his head and growled to himself before glaring at Akila, "I don't wish to speak of this now." He said before walking past her. "Soldado, just give her a chance to explain." Amelia said taking a few steps towards Soldado before he paused.
"Why do you defend her when she's spoken of you like she hates you?" He asked, his eyes narrowed before he turned and began walking away.
