((Durp. You likey the title? Its supposed to be Street dogs and Alley cats but I switched et :3))
When no ones ever wanted you, what do you do? If you had everything you ever wanted, what do you do?
What will you sacrifice in order to stay alive? What will you sacrifice to save those that are fighting to stay alive?
When they dumped you onto the side of the road... Did you run or did you watch their backs as they disappeared?
When they took you from the harsh world and into their home... Did you fight to get away or did you welcome them with open paws?
Do you long for a life with family, friends, safety? Do you crave the adventure, danger of roaming the streets?
This is the life of a stray. This is the life of a pet.
Which one shall you choose?
Hello, and welcome! In this rp, you get to choose between playing a stray cat/dog or playing a pet cat/dog. Of course, we can't have street animals if there isn't a street right?
And we can't have a street without a city! Here's everything in our city, which is called:
Auburn City
Dog Park: Cats usually stay away. Only dogs with owners are allowed to enter, but occasionally a stray will sneak in to meddle with the others. Contains an agility course, a wide field, a garden with plenty of flowers, and a small pond. Junkyard: Domain of the strays. They make small homes or dens out of whatever they find, and they rummage for scraps of food. Should a pet ever enter, the strays will usually chase them out. Neutral ground for both cats and dogs, but they usally stay away from eachother.
Alleyways/Streets: There are plenty of these around, and they make good hiding places as well.
And everything else that a city has, dumpsters, houses, stores, you get the point. Second of all, you need ta know more about strays and pets!
Strays: Basically, they don't have owner and wander the streets when they feel like it. They often face challenges like looking for food and dodging dog catchers. They dislike pets and think that the life of one is pathetic. Strays are usually named after something they've seen in there life and not normal names. Example: 'Mud' 'Sun' 'Tinypaw' or just made up names, like sounds or just random words.
Pets: They have owners and more often than not wear collars, which is what the strays look for as a feature of a pet. How they are treated depends on the kind of owner they have, but no matter what a stray will judge you. They look down on strays and think they are just filthy trouble-makers. Pets can be named virtually anything, and are given names by their owners.
Rules: 1. Basic roleplaying rules apply. 2. Do not mate a cat with a dog... 3. You may have unlimited characters, however keep up with them all. 4. If your character is a pet, please fill out a form for their owner as well.

((Accepted. Starting now.))
"Don't lose sight of that mutt!" A hoarse voice called out over th sound of pounding feet on cement. The only thing a certain white and auburn stray hears is blood pumping furiously in her floppy ears, and the rhythmic tap of her untrimmed claws as she speeds away from her approaching doom. The men with the long poles with a looped string at the end are following far behind her, unable to keep up with the long-legged female. She skids and rounds a sharp corner, into a dark alleyway for a short moment before the sun shines in her brown eyes again. Impulse risks a glance over her shoulder and sees that the dog catchers haven't given up their pursuit just yet. She pants and her eyes flicker around before they are fixated on a line of trash cans sitting beside the curb.
The mutt runs up and rams into one with her side, the first one being barely full and made of flimsy metal. The lid and trash inside of it goes flying onto the sidewalk, sure to them down. She rounds another corner, purposely avoiding to Junkyard so that none her comrades are caught as well. Thats the last thing she wants happening.

The wind echoed in the Husky's ears as Dusk ran down the sidewalk, his ears pointed back. His paws padded against the hard, rocky cement as he slipped around humans. "Stupid Mutt! Get back here!" A Hispanic voice yelled. The familiar Butcher ran a few yards behind the Dog. The savory piece of raw steak that hung from the Dog's mouth dripped it's juice into his mouth causing him to speed up as he savored the meal to come. Dusk rounded a corner and entered a dark alley. The butcher's footsteps continued as he chased after the stray. At the end of the alley, at a fork between two more alley's sat a blue-eyed tabby. Her tail swishing from side to side anxiously. `What took you so long!?` The cat mewed but didn't wait for an answer. The butcher rounded the corner, his hands waving in the air. Dusk sped up and just as he entered the cross road of the alley's, a large animal hit him. Him and the dog rolled to a stop on the ground. He landed ontop of the female and quickly raising his head looked down at her. Deep brown eyes twinkled in the sunlight and matched perfectly with a white and brown coat. Dusk didn't have time to speak as he looked up the butcher and now dog catchers were running at him. "The dog catchers must be after her..." He thought to himself. Dawn jumped down from her perch atop a dumpster and rubbed against Dusk's leg. `Come on!` She urged. Dusk quickly without thinking pushed the dog up to a standing position and pushed her forward quickly. They rounded another corner and Dusk pushed the mutt behind a dumpster. Dawn hopped in, then Dusk. He watched as the three men ran by, all calling after the strays. Dusk sighed in relief and looked over at the female. `Hi, I am Dusk.` He said bowing his head. `I am Dawn` The tabby spoke up walking up beside Dusk.

Impulse let out a mighty yelp as a black and white blur bashed ino her, the pair of dogs tumbling then landing with the larger male on top of her. With the air knocked out of her lungs, in a slight daze she took the time to study the male, a rather tall and stocky husky. She gasped in a few breaths before slamming her paw into his chest and jumping up, her head franticlly swivelling around as if the humans would come along any minute. In a haze, with the smell of thick, juicy meat tickling her nose, the male led her through the alleyways and behind a dumpster. Impulse crinkled her nose as the humans passed by oblivious. She turned accusingly towards the male, who had inroduced himself as Dusk, "What the- Who are you?! I could have fended for myself!" She barked, stopping mid-rant to eye the cat, ginger furred, clear and teal eyed.
"What are you doing with that?"

Dusk's eyes widened and he took a step forward `Mind your words dog` He growled. `That, is my friend Dawn. And leave if you can fend for yourself. Don't thank me but do not talk to her like that` His eyes narrowed as he stood inches from the mutts face. `Stop` Dawn said hopping down onto his back and between him and the dog. She eyed him then turned to face her `Hi, I am Dawn. Excuse him he is defensive` She waited but her ears soon fell. The look in the dog's eyes told her she was just like the others, Dawn sighed. She thought she found someone who wouldn't judge her.

Impulse's face took on an air of amusement, "Oh, what, this kitty's your friend?" She mocked, "How sweet." The female suddenly scowled and stood up straight, since she was a tall dog her nose pushed up against Dusk's face. Brown eyes met his for a moment, studying him cynically. "Pathetic. Teaming up with a feline." She muttered, glaring at Dawn one last time before stepping back with a snort. "Catch'ya later, softies!" Impulse barked before shooting off, kicking up grains of dust and dirt, the sight of her white and brown fur quickly disappearing.
When the stray had finally reached her destination, a light drizzle of rain had come seemingly out of no where. Impulse padded through the Junkyard's entrance where a few mutts greeted her with a single bark. She went up to a rather small, den-like formation made up of black, ruddy tires and a wide wooden plank for a ceiling. Thankful to get out of the rain, she crouched and shuffled in, the smell of a half-eaten, day old bird filling her nostrils. The dog nudged with her nose, she had saved it for a 'rainy day' as she once had heard the humans call it. Looking out to the harsh world, where the rain battered the ground, she dug into her last morsel of food before she had to go and hunt for more.

Dusk stood still, not a movement as the female spoke. Their eyes met evenly as they both stood tall. He said nothing as she left, though he needed not to, the rain filled the silence as it padded down softly onto the two stray's fur. Dawn's ears were down as she watched the female leave. Dusk finally broke his gaze and looked down at the small feline. `Dawn I-` `Don't` She said standing and walking out from behind the dumpster. The rain came down harder as they made their way towards the junkyard. Dusk walked slightly behind Dawn as the feline walked, head down and ears back. Dusk kept his ears down though his head was high watching for danger. As they neared the junkyard, Dusk caught up with Dawn and walked alongside the feline. They entered the cluttered yard and were greeted by a few friendly barks though they muffled out most of the jokes that were being made. `Here kitty kitty kitty, oh yeah and bring Dawn too!` A few laughs were heard. Dusk walked defensively beside his companion. They finally reached a small den shaped hole made of tire strips and metal pieces. They entered, they fur finally being free of the rain. Dawn walked over to her corner and laid down immediately though her eyes staid open. Dusk sat beside the door watching out as the rain fell harder.

A girl with dark hair that fluttered behind her form sped around the room, just as energetic as the four month up pup that tailed her. An australian shephered with light brown and white fur, mottled with brown spots and baby blue eyes yipped excitedly as his owner slipped a black leather collar on him. The silver spikes shone clearly, and if you looked closely one of them had his named engraved on it, Spice. Jen clipped the leash onto him and tiptoed out of her room, so quietly that she could still hear the rain pattering gently against the ceiling. After putting on her rain coat she pushed herself out the door, along with an elated shephered puppy. As soon as they were out he began splashing in the mud puddles. "C'mon Spice, there's no time to waste! We have to find Cream very soon!" Spice looked up, reminded of his cream-colored friend who had apparently gone missing this morning. Jen's parents had informed her that it was normal for cats to just wander off, but once the rain came falling Jen became worried. Hopefully they'd find her soon.

A light, tannish she-cat's ears perked at the sound of a mocking voice barking, "Here kitty kitty kitty," She cringed, water flying off of her fur only to be soaked even more by the rain. Cream was sure that she had been spotted, on top of a lamp post, by a dog that was going to prevent her escape- "Oh yeah, and bring Dawn too!" Dawn? Cream though at she peered down with curious brown eyes. A husky and a ginger feline had just entered the junkyard, and the words were obviously aimed at them, not her. Phew. Cream shivered from the frigid rain fall and continued to cling to the top of the lamp post with all she was worth.

Dusk's eyes flickered up at the feline as she exited the make-shift den. `Dawn where are you go-` The cat disappeared into the thin film of rain. Dusk stood and looked closer, her blazing orange fur barely viewable through the thick rainfall. Dusk walked out into the rain, his fur immediately being weighed down. He trotted after the small feline, doing his best to keep up with the orange fuzz in the distance. `Oh look! It's a small cat` The familiar voice of Bruce spoke. The large German shepard stood below the bent lamp post that stood near the gate of the junkyard. Slowly stray's poked their heads out of their dens and inspected the commotion. Two more stray dogs joined Bruce under the lamp post, their tails wagging and tongues hanging from their mouths. `I think I smell dinner` Bruce teased with a smirk looking up at the creamy cat. Dawn was the first too look up, stopping which allowed Dusk to finally catch up with her. He followed the frozen feline's gaze to the small cat atop the lamp post. The dogs circled below like sharks. Bruce was the first to take action, leaping up and snapping the air beside the cat's tail. He missed by an inch and landed, splattering mud. He smirked and circled again as one of the other two dogs jumped up aiming for the cat. He missed and landed once more. The third one, a pure white thin dog, leaped up, she was inches from the cat and still was going up, she would definitely get the cat. Without notice, the white dog went flying to the side, just as he closed his mouth missing the cat's tail by half an inch. A black and white blur slammed into the dog in mid-air knocking him aside. They landed with a splatter of mud and slid to a stop. Dusk slowly stood and shook the mud from his fur and turned. The white dog slowly stood and narrowed his eyes, `What's your problem pup?` He growled. Dusk ignored the dog and approached the lamp post, now Bruce and the other dog were still beneath it staring at Dusk. `Leave her alone` Dusk growled. Bruce slowly smiled And laughed `Did you hear this guys? Little Dusk wants to help another cat` Bruce taunted. Now more then half the stray's in the junk yard surrounded them. They laughed along with the german shepard. `I said leave the cat, alone` He growled. Bruce's smile faded, `Whatever, you aren't worth the energy pup` Bruce said turning and walking away, the other dog following close behind. Soon the strays turned and left leaving Dusk standing in the rain alone beneath the lamp post with the cat and Dawn.

Impulse peered outside of her make-shift den, licking a small amount of dried blood off her chops. She squinted and made out Dusk and Dawn standing underneath a lamp post, staring at a lump of creamy fur. The white and brown mutt slipped out of the den and shoved herself through the crowd of strays walking away from the lamp post. Once she was in range, she saw that the lump was a creamy white, furball. Another cat. Impulse growled, advancing behind the husky, a surge of hate going through her. Through the droplets of rain that pelted her fur, she could see it, a light lilac fabric that surrounded the creatures neck. A pet. Her blood lit on fire at that moment, and she snarled. _________________________________________________
Cream watched the scene unfold before her eyes, the mutts gathering underneath her like flies to a lightbulb. Her ears twitched at the taunts and mentions of her becoming possible dog food, and she curled deeper into herself. The dog's snaps were mere inches away from her, and one dog had nearly chomped onto her tail, only to be shoved away by a black and white blur. A husky, rather strong and intimidating, had come to her rescue! She watched in awe as the mutts belittled the husky, named 'Dusk', as a large german shephard had said. They left after a few minutes, leaving Cream to feel significantly safer. Still shivering, though more from the cold than from fear, she stood up. "Th-Thank you so-" She began softly, but was interrupted by a bone-chilling snarl. The she-cat nearly jumped out of her own skin, leaped off of the lamp post and onto Dusk's back. She was face to face with a white and brown mutt now, making Cream unsheath her claws to cling to Dusk's back. Cream yowled in fear as Impulse snapped at her.

Dusk's eyes widened at the feel of the sharp claws. Dusk pushed himself forward ramming into the dog's neck.`Touch her and your a$$ is mine` Dusk growled. He turned quickly and grabbed the cream cat by the back of the neck and lifted her off of his back and onto the ground. He placed his paw in front of the cat and blocked The mutt's view. He growled low and said `Get her out of here!` Dawn motioned for the cream cat to follow her quickly. She slid through the rain and out of the junk yard she trotted into the nearest alley and slid behind a large dumpster, the rain finally stopped hitting them as the dumpster blocked it. Dusk Growled and steadied himself. `What's your problem?` Dusk growled. His eyes lit up with rage, his snarls seemed twisted and out of control. His teeth bared and twinkled as drops or rain slid down his canines. He snapped the bone-chilling air and growled. The dog was tough, he could tell, though how she was built was more for speed, her long and thin legs showed this. He was built for strength. He curled his lips up more and growled.

-Echo, who had watched the whole scene from the top of an old car, was now padding towards the two dogs.- "That's enough. Us strays have enough problems already. We don't need you two making it any harder." -She growled and stepped between the two. Echo was a husky mix. Though she had a large build, she was faster than she was stronger, but the female used her wits during fights.-
-Ember perked her ears and pushed her way out of the trash can. She directed her attention to a dumpster.- "Who's there?" -She meowed and sat down, flicking her ears as the rain dropped onto them and blinking away the drops that drizzled into her eyes.-

Dawn's eyes widened `Shh` She whispered to the cream cat and slowly walked out from the dumpster. `Um..I am Dawn` She meowed softly looking into the rain. Dusk took a step back and held his head high, he was a good inch taller then the female before him. `Us strays, no I am not one of yall. I am nothing like you` He said stubbornly. `How can you possibly see us as a difference? Just because they have collars on, there is no difference` He growled. `Not to mention cats, they are animals just like us` He snapped. He looked at the new female standing before him. `Have fun calming her down, I am gone` He turned and walked out of the junkyard, head high and tail curled up.

"The difference between strays and pets. Are you really that stubborn to notice? Strays have to fend for themselves. We have to find our own food. We get kicked in the side if we get too close to humans and run from those who have nets. Pets stay inside. They're out of the rain. When it's cold, they have somewhere warm to go. They don't have to worry about starving or getting caught and taken away." -Echo growled and stepped forward.- "So open your eyes. The only thing that is the same is that there are dogs and cats either way it goes."
"Dawn?" -The she-cat meowed and glared at the emerging cat.- "What are you doing here?" -Ember looked around at the dumpster.- "And who were you shushing?"
((Lol, shushing.))

Dawn looked shyly back at the dumpster and sighed. `I have another stray with me, she is quite scared. I am hiding actually,` The rain weighing down her fur.
Dusk stopped and turned he walked right up to the female, he was a good inch taller then her and he looked down at her. `I was a pet once, I was loved I was wanted I was needed but No! I was thrown away like garbage, like I wasn't even needed for the world anymore. I could die and no one would give a rats a$$ about it. Pet may have a a wonderful life but ever seen a pet with a collar with bruises and cuts, most are beaten and abused by the two-leggeds. You want to know what that's like to be loved and wanted then to be beaten and starved for months only to be thrown out into the street. Well I know what it is like I have the scars to show I went through months of hell just thinking maybe one day they will go back to how it was, how they loved me or actually f*c*i*g cared!` He bared his lips and growled. `So don't you "Ever" tell me to open my eyes again, I have already seen reality enough to know either way no one gives a rats a$$ about animals. So don't tell me to open my eyes unless you know what I have seen` He shook his head and turned walking into the rain. He didn't wait for an answer and didn't care for one, he was done with the two dogs and he exited the junkyard and turned down the alley where the two cats are.

-Echo growled and ran up to the dog.- "They don't do that for no reason. Let me show you something." -She padded towards a large building with a light on. The bitch propped her fore legs on a window seal and peered into the window. A large husky mix, about the size of Dusk, lay curled up beside a fireplace with a bowl of food beside him. A human walked up to the dog and patted his head before sitting down on the couch, allowing the dog to sit down beside him. Echo sighed and jumped down.- "You see that? He's just like you. But yet there's a difference. He's a pet. You're a stray." -Echo padded back to the junkyard without saying another word.-
"Another stray you say? Tell your friend that you can't be scared out here. Those who are scared, die first." -Ember flicked her tail and stood up before padding over to the dumpster.- "Ahh a pet." -She meowed as she caught sight of the collar.- "No wonder." -She murmured lowly and raised her voice as she spoke again.- "So when were you thrown out?"

Dawn's ears fell `Yes, another stray, me and my friend saved her life.`
Dusk turned to look at the dog as she left, `Like I said no difference but a collar, nice to see you are to stubborn to see that` He turned and walked down the flooded sidewalk, his fur soaked to the core. His brown eyes looked through the hazy film of rain as he spotted the alley and walked into it. The atmosphere changed to a dark and creepy setting as he approached the dumpster. He stopped, his ears down and looked at the new cat. Raising his head and ears, though his eyes stayed sad, he looked at the new cat. `Who is this?` He asked. Dawn smiled `Another stray, you don't mind dogs...right?` Dawn asked the cat.
